Fantasy as a genre offers a lot of freedom to explore and create. Whether you're writing or drawing, you get the chance to pour your imagination out on paper. When you're as talented and passionate as Austin local Sasha Jones, your illustrations can be quite magical and ensnaring! One of the first things that attracted me to Sasha's work was his use of bold, vibrant colors (that's the fantasy I dream of). He is a master at combining a full range of hues to depict his creative characters and story-filled scenes. Sasha received formal training in the Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design. Coupled with the influence of his personal interests, Sasha's style has come alive and caught the eye of many a fantasy fan. He works in a variety of media, from pen & ink to oil paint. Sasha is also quite skilled with software like Photoshop and Painter, tools that enable beautifully intricate digital illustration. Each piece can take upwards of 30 hours or more. He's very dedicated to the details! Sasha's depicted many different dragons and mystical birds as well as strong hero figures. I bet it's fun to talk through these stories with Sasha and join him as he walks through these invented worlds he explores. When he's not busy drawing or writing, you'll often find him at various Cons, sharing his work with fellow lovers of the magical and fantastic!
